The Guide for Playing and Winning at Valorant eSports
Ever since Riot Games released Valorant, the video game has been receiving quite a lot of hype. Most of the fans were already players in the League of Legends games, so the prospect of similar free games made them even more exciting.
Some people liked the game for the graphics, others liked it for the short matches – but the fact is that there are millions of people worldwide now playing the game. If you are new to the Valorant game, this article should give you a start.
Valorant within the Game Industry
Valorant is a game that entered the eSports industry in 2020, parented by Riot Games – the creators of League of Legends. The game is a shooter that compares to multiple others in the game industry such as Overwatch, CS: GO – and obviously, League of Legends.
At the moment, Valorant is an eSport that can only be played on a Windows computer. However, there are plans for the developers to bring it to Xbox. You may play it as a beginner and do simple quests, or you may go the Valorant Pro way and join tournaments.
The Valorant game has been rated a PEGI 16, which means that users under that age are not recommended to play the game. This is because the game shows strong violence that can affect younger age categories. That being said, the game itself does not have an age-checking process upon registration.
How to Play Valorant
Valorant has a very simple gameplay that resembles league of legends. You can enter a game on your own and play without the team or check the Valorant eSports schedule and enter a team or tournament. Regardless of how you decide to play, you will either be on the attack or the defense, automatically placed in a real or AI-controlled team.
Teams in Valorant are formed from five players, and even if you engage in the epic games, you will battle against another team. One team will be the attackers, whereas the other will be the defendant. One team will plant spikes, the other will diffuse the spikes.
The rounds take around 100-145 seconds, depending on when (or if) the spike gets planted. After 12 rounds, the roles of the teams will reverse: attackers will become defenders, and defenders will become attackers.
Valorant Pro Tips for New Players
If you are a new Valorant eSports player, you ate probably still learning your way around the hero shooter. Here are some tips to make the gameplay easier for you.
1. Plant the Spikes Efficiently
If you are part of the Attacker team, you will likely have to plant a spike so that you can erase all of your enemies off the map. The spike itself is easy to plant, as it will only take you around 4 seconds – but it will also take the enemy team several seconds to diffuse it.
You need to plant it in a place that is easy for your team to defend, but also where it can inflict the most damage on your enemies.
2. Become Acquainted with the Maps
The game Valorant has a total of four main maps: Split, Bind, Haven, and Ascent. Depending on the mode that you are playing, you can also come across a Fracture, Icebox, and Breeze map. If you want to be successful, you need to familiarize yourself with the map.
You have around 145 seconds to take your enemy down, and you can’t do that if you are aimlessly running around the map, with no idea where you are going.
3. Have a Good Plan
When engaging in professional eSports, you always need to have a good plan. eSports Valorant is no exception. These electronic sports are usually played in teams of five, so you need to know exactly what you need to do there. Figure out what you are within the team, and based on your character ability, help your team win the round.
The Bottom Line
Valorant is a game that shows great promise among eSports enthusiasts and is quite easy to play. If you were a fan of League of Legends, then you will likely enjoy Valorant as well.
